Oxford man charged with assaulting a police officer

OXFORD — An Oxford man was arrested on Tuesday following an alleged altercation with police off of Route 26.

James P. Zinchuk, 56, of Oxford was arrested by Oxford Lieutenant Michael Ward at 5:18 p.m. Zinchuk was taken to Oxford County Jail and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Assault on a Police Officer.

As of press time, the Oxford Police had not released an incident report or disclosed whether any police officers had been injured in the assault.

The first charge is a Class E misdemeanor and the second a Class C felony.
