For her senior project, Maryssa Boyd, a senior at OHCHS, worked with members of the South Paris Baptist Church as well as St. Catherine’s Church in Norway to build a large shelving unit in the basement of theRumford Group Homes shelter in Norway to allow for better sorting of the clothing and food donations. She sought donations from area building suppliers includng Record Lumber which donated 18 2x4’s and gave a discount rate on plywood. South Paris Baptist church donated the money for the plywood. Bolster’s Decorating donated paint brushes, rollers and other painting supplies. James Welch helped Maryssa get all the lumber delivered to the shelter. Goldie Welch supported and assisted. Linda Carden from St. Catherine’s connected her with local carpenters Cliff Larrabee and Kirk Wilson to do the building of the shelves. The shelter will now be able to better sort and keep track of clothing and food donations.

Adam Mason, a senior at OHCHS, wanted to do hands on work for his senior project and provide some needed help around the Rumford Group Homes shelter in Norway. He donated more than 20 hours of his time to the shelter cleaning and organizing the garage, moving heavy construction materials around as needed. He did some shoveling in front of the shelter after a couple of storms and took recyclables  and trash to the transfer station. He also put together some furniture and helped clean and organize the basement as well as providing office support by shredding old documents.
