Emergency Department at SMH donates Thanksgiving boxes
THANKSGIVING MEALS DONATED - Linda Fecteau, ES Tech, stands with the three large boxes of Thanksgiving meals that the Emergency Services staff put together to donate to families in need this season.
NORWAY – The staff in the Emergency Department at Stephens Memorial Hospital came together this holiday season to help community members in need. The staff donated enough food items and money to make three boxed food donations to families who may not have been able to have a Thanksgiving meal.
Linda Fecteau, an Emergency Services Technician, began talking about her idea to have the staff donate food for a box, in October. By mid-November she had enough food and monetary donations to fill two boxes, and by the week of Thanksgiving, she had three boxes full of vegetables, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, desserts, and gift certificates for turkey, including a pan to cook the turkey in. Fecteau is overjoyed by the thoughtfulness of her fellow staff. Everyone from ES Techs, Ward Clerks, Float Staff, RNs and physicians donated to the boxes.
Nurse Director of Emergency Services, Darlene Glover, RN, MSN states, "We are grateful to be able to share with those who are struggling in this economy. That is what the holiday season is about.”
