AREA — Local origami experts and new recruits folded a total of 372 paper cranes in one week to meet a challenge set by children’s clothing manufacturer, OshKosh B’gosh. The company will donate an article of children’s clothing for every crane folded and sent to OshKosh prior to April 25. The cranes and clothing will be given to Japanese children who have survived the recent earthquake and tsumani.
Karen Ellis and Nancy Holmann worked with the congregation of the West Auburn Congregational Church to complete 252 cranes. Lee Dassler and Emily Libby assisted attendees of the Fare Share Market’s Magpie Fund Raiser last Friday night to fold an additional 100 cranes. Groups of obliging homeschoolers added even more birds. The entire flock of 372 was driven down to the OshKosh B-gosh outlet in Freeport. Thanks to OshKosh for this opportunity, and to all paper crane folders.
