RAFFLE WINNER — Cathy Palman happily displays the pendant she won in Responsible Pet Care's recent raffle.

NORWAY — Cathy Palman was the winner of the Responsible Pet Care smokey-lavender, 9.50-carat, amethyst pendant. The gem itself was found on Deer Hill in the White Mountains National Forest in Stowe.

The gem and pendant were donated to RPC’s no-kill animal shelter by Rochester’s Eclectic Emporium on 403 Main Street in Oxford. The sterling silver wire wrap was created by Doug Smith of Paris.

Raffles are important fundraisers for nonprofit Responsible Pet Care, which serves the Oxford Hills area. The most recent pendant raffle raised hundreds of dollars to provide food and medical care for more than 75 cats and kittens at the shelter, which is located on the Waterford Road in Norway.

Rochester’s Eclectic Emporium has also donated another amethyst pendant to Responsible Pet Care. This piece of jewelry will become a raffle item next fall.
