Local author makes MST best seller list
OTISFIELD — Maine author, storyteller and radio talk show host John McDonald of Otisfield has reason to be jolly this Christmas season, with three of his four books appearing on the Maine Sunday Telegram's bestseller list - some for several weeks running. His "A Moose and a Lobster Walk into a Bar" (Islandport Press) has now been on the Telegram's book list every Christmas season since the book was published in the fall of 2002. It is now in its 12th edition.
His other titles are "Down the road a piece, A storyteller's guide to Maine" (Islandport); "The Maine Dictionary" (Commonwealth Editions), a humorous look at unique Maine words and phrases and his latest, "Nothin' but Puffins" (Downeast), which came out in October.
All of McDonald's books are available locally at Books n' Things on Main Steet in Norway, where he recently did a book signing and left behind several signed copies.
When not writing, or hosting his weekend radio talk show on 560WGAN in Portland, McDonald travels throughout New England performing his program, "A taste of Maine humor," at banquets, business meetings, conferences and conventions.
McDonald says he's now starting work on his fifth book but doesn't know what it will be called or when it will be released.
"I just write them and send them off to one of my publishers. They decide what happens after that," McDonald said.
