'Silver Bells' Christmas in Harrison
HARRISON - The 25th anniversary of Christmas in Harrison, “Silver Bells” begins this week on Thursday, December 2, at 5 p.m. at the United Parish Congregational Church. Folks will enjoy Soup and a Song followed by a Christmas Nativity program.
On Friday, December 3, events begin at 6 p.m. at the Village Town Office parking area. Santa arrives at 6:45 p.m. followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree and John Sparrow’s Brass Choir Band, playing traditional Christmas carols, will be joined by village singers.
Saturday morning, a pancake breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the United Parish Congregational Church kicks off the day. Parade formation begins at 8:30 a.m. on Depot Street - please enter Depot Street from the Waterford Road. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m.
A craft fair will be held at the Grange Hall from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Local businesses will host an “Open House” throughout the day.
Purchase your live Christmas tree at the Caswell House Parking lot from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., sponsored by the Harrison Lions Club.
On Saturday night, from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight, a dance sponsored by the Waterford World’s Fair, with the Rockin Road Runners band, will be held at the VFW Hall on Waterford Road in Harrison. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Christmas in Harrison gift raffle.
There will also be a decorating contest with cash prizes. Plan to decorate your home and enter the contest that will be judged on Thursday evening. Prizes will be awarded at the Saturday night dance at the VFW. Entry forms may be picked up at the Town Office and other local businesses.
