This class is designed for those with hip and knee issues and who find it difficult to get up and down from a yoga mat. Resilience - Build Skills to Endure Hardship - Mondays, November 15, 22 and 29, 1-2:30 p.m. Free. Instructor is Sue Holmes, Education Center Coordinator, SeniorsPlus.

Resilience: Being able to adapt to life's misfortunes and setbacks. Test your resilience level and get tips to build your own resilience.

When something goes wrong, do you tend to bounce back or fall apart? When you have resilience, you harness inner strengths and rebound more quickly from a setback or challenge, whether it's growing older, an illness, a disaster or the death of a loved one.

In contrast, if you lack resilience, you tend to dwell on problems, may feel victimized, become overwhelmed and possibly turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Resilience won't make your problems go away. But resilience can give you the ability to see past them, find enjoyment in life and handle stress better. If you aren't as resilient as you'd like to be, you can develop skills to become more resilient.

Living with Grief through the Holidays – Thursday, November 18, 1:30-3 p.m. Free. Instructor is Dennis Sicotte, Androscoggin Hospice House.

Grief is a challenging, complicated emotion, especially during the holidays. You will learn ways to live with grief, cope with expectations, and learn to identify traditions that promote healing.

Beaded Jewelry - Would you like to make a piece of professionally designed jewelry? For you? As a gift? This Month: Necklace. Friday, November 19, 12:30-2:30 p.m. $10 for supplies. Instructor is Sandi Godin, owner, Beadaful Creations.

Learn how to bead a beautiful necklace with an experienced designer. Participants will have fun and leave with their own creation.

What’s Happening to My Body As It Ages? - This Month: Gastrointestinal System. Tuesday, November 30, 1-2:30 p.m. Free. Instructor is Dr. Alan Verrill, MD, FHM, Central Maine Medical Center Hospitalist.

Why can’t we eat like we used to? Why are Tums, Prilosec and Beano our new drugs of necessity? Dr. Verrill discusses how our digestive system changes as we age and some tips that can help keep it healthy. The doctor shares his knowledge and time with us monthly.
