Farm Fair to be held in Norway

NORWAY — A Farm Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. both days at Fare Share Commons, 445 Main St. in Norway. Meet your local farmers and producers, get information, try samples, just hang out, or buy a CSA Share (Community Supported Agriculture) from one of eight local farmers, producers, or other enterprises.

This annual event promotes the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model of selling local foods and products directly from producers to consumers. If you have participated in Norway in the past, organizers hope you will again. If you are a farmer or producer who already uses the CSA model, or if you are considering using it for the first time, this is an excellent opportunity to meet other farmers and producers who sell their products through CSA's as well as to meet potential buyers.

Saturday's events include:

- 11 a.m.-12 noon Cathy DiCocoa from DiCocoa's Cafe, Market and Bakery in Bethel will speak on "Buying Local for a Local Business."

- 12-1 p.m. Inexpensive local lunch available.

- 12-3 p.m. CSA Fair

- "What local means in the Oxford Hills" game and other activities to educate and engage attendees.

Sunday's events include:

- 11 a.m.-12 noon Panel discussion with restaurant buyers and local farmers and producers

- 12-1 p.m. Inexpensive local lunch available.

- 12-3 p.m. CSA Fair

- Opportunity for potential buyers to meet producers face to face.

This event is cohosted locally by Fare Share Co-op and Harvest Moon Produce and hosted statewide by Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. You do not have to be an organic producer to participate in this event. All are welcome.

Get a 10 percent discount at Fare Share Co-op through March 31 if you buy a farm product share directly from your farmer/producer.
