Harrison Rec plans vacation activities
HARRISON — Harrison Recreation has the following vacation week activities planned:
Monday, February 20 - Snow Tubing at Oxford Plains Snow Tubing Park for grades two-12 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost: $16 includes transportation and three hours of tubing. Bus leaves Town Office parking lot at 9:15 a.m. Registration and release forms available at the Town Office. Deadline: February 17.
Wednesday, February 22 - Sledding at High View Farm from 1-4 p.m. Children ages eight and under must be accompanied by an adult and are encouraged to wear a helmet. Bring your favorite sled and dress according to the weather. Hot cocoa and snacks available. Cost: Free
Saturday and Sunday, February 25 and 26 - Fourth Annual Youth and Family Ice Fishing Derby. Register before the Derby at the Harrison Town Office or the day of the Derby at the boat launch at the head of Long Lake.
Saturday 7 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Adults who are not actively fishing can assist their children without a Maine Fishing License but are required to register with the Derby and are required to fish in the sanctioned area.
Only fish caught in Long Lake will be eligible for prizes. Ages 15 and under: $2. Ages 16+ $5. For details call Joe Jack, Derby Coordinator, at 730-1288 or Paula Holt, Recreation Director, at 583-2241. Youth lifetime fishing licenses, prizes and raffles, food and fun.

Saturday, February 25 - Buffet breakfast. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the Congregational Church in Harrison featuring scrambled eggs, homemade pancakes, sausage, home fries, muffins, fruit, OJ, coffee and tea. 7:30-9:30 a.m. Donations appreciated.
Saturday, February 25 - Public supper. The Waterford World's Fair Assoc. will be offering a delicious dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Harrison featuring baked stuffed haddock, macaroni and cheese, potato, vegetable, homemade pie and beverage. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children six years old and under.
Sunday, February 26 - Snowmobile Radar Run sponsored and hosted by the Harrison Friendly Riders Snowmobile Club on Crystal Lake. Registration: 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Racing: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost: $20/three runs or $10/run. Kids under 18 may run with parental permission (parents must sign a release waiver).
Racing by class and top speed of the day. Antique snowmobile class. Food booth will have burgers, hot dogs, chili and beverages.
