Western Maine Legislative Caucus to hold forum

FARMINGTON — The Western Maine Legislative Caucus Series invited all citizens to a free breakfast and public forum on February 18, from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Olsen Student Center’s north dining hall at the University of Maine, Farmington. The snow date is February 25.

Laurie Lachance and Dana Connors will present “Making Maine Work: The Role of Maine’s Public University System.” Laurie Lachance is president and CEO of the Maine Development Foundation, and Dana Connors is the president of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce.

This report focuses on the role higher education plays in growing Maine’s economy and the investments necessary to support the work. Specifically, this report looks at the current role of the University of Maine System (University System) in contributing to economic development, evaluates what more might be done and provides recommendations for how best to deploy the System’s resources to reach its full potential.
