Diabetes fair slated in Lewiston

LEWISTON/AUBURN — 23.6 million children and adults in the United States - 7.8 percent of the population - have diabetes. It is linked to many other health issues like heart disease, stroke, blindness and kidney disease, and costs billions of dollars each year to manage. The good news is there are ways to manage diabetes and lots of local resources to help. On Tuesday, February 15, from 1–4 p.m., at Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library there will be a free event with experts, patients and educators sharing tips and information to help you live well with diabetes.

The “Diabetes & You” fair will have information and demonstrations about nutrition, monitoring, talking to your doctor, and two panel discussions about challenges and successes. The event is sponsored Common Ties Mental Health Services, Tri-County Mental Health Services, and the Lewiston Public Library with support from the Maine Health Access Foundation. The fair is open to everyone.
