UBM holds annual Christmas Basket Ride

LIVERMORE FALLS -- The Franklin County chapter of United Bikers of Maine hosted its annual Christmas Basket Ride on Sunday, July 8, which carried 37 bikes with riders through much of Franklin and Somerset counties under sunny skies.
The ride started and ended at Pike's Corner Oasis in Livermore Falls and included a stop at the Blueberry Hill overlook in Rome and a barbecue at the end of the return run. Proceeds from the event go toward the purchase of food to fill Christmas baskets donated to needy area families in connection with the annual Western Maine Community action program.
Coming up, the local UBM members are planning for the August statewide UBM event in New Portland at which they will serve a Thursday barbecue; and in September they will participate in the annual statewide Toy Run to the Winslow Fairgrounds, and conduct the annual September POW-MIA Ride in partnership with Oxford County UBM.
