Dr. Courtenay Deane graduates UNE

BIDDEFORD -- Courtenay Deane, D.O., daughter of Robert and Mary Beth Deane of Jay and granddaughter of Lester and Jill Deane was a member of the graduating class of 2012 at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
She was awarded the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the commencement ceremonies held at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10 a.m.
UNE graduated 131 physicians at the ceremony, including seven dual DO/Master of Public Health and nine Master of Medical Education Leadership degree recipients.
Later that day, the physicians and MMEL graduates received their hoods-the most symbolic part of the academic regalia-at a separate hooding ceremony at Merrill Auditorium, where it was also awarded the college's highest honor, the Pioneer of Osteopathic Medicine Medal, to UNE Emeritus Sandra Featherman, Ph.D.
Dr. Courtenay Deane will be interning at St Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, New York, prior to a residency in Neuromuscular Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
