Should Norway and Paris combine services? Why or why not?

David Phillips Photo:

I think they're combined enough as it is. It's each township's responsibility to deal with their own problems. They share enough already and I think they should keep it the way it is.

I think they should. I think it would make a lot of things easier for the towns, the police departments, and the fire departments.

As far as saving money goes, I think it would help. I guess it would also depend on where the departments are located. I wouldn't want the fire department to have to drive too far.

I think so. They're neighboring towns and there's no reason why they can't share things.

Rae White Photo:

I think so. It's all economies of scale.  Right now, everything is duplicated: two police departments, two fire departments, two public works.

I don't see why not. They would save money by having one police or fire department instead of two.

Not at all. I think they each have enough to deal with.

No way, they would kill each other. You're gong to see generations of rivalries come out.  And geographically, I'm not sure it would work. I'm not sure you're going to save that much money with one department because the territory is so big.

Why wouldn't they? They should all combine and combine with Oxford too. It's not that big of an area and it saves money.

Denny Garey Photo:

It's not that big of an area; it's right down the road. If it works it would save money. Whichever way is better for the towns, better for the the economy and for the people, we should probably do that.

Next Week's Question:

Should juvenile offenders be arrested more often?

Editor’s Note: We are opening up our Person on the Street column to all our readers – not just the ones we manage to corner "on the street." So, please, take a moment and think about our question of the week, then send us your answer along with a photograph of you.
