The Norway winter market at the Grange fills Thanksgiving tables with local delights

Thanksgiving is on its way and your local farmers, bakers and artisans have gathered at the Norway Winter Market at the Grange to bring you fresh local foods for your family’s holiday table. This festive farmers’ market is held each Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from October 9, 2010 through December 18, 2010 at the historic Grange Hall, located at 15 Whitman Street in downtown Norway.

Join us at the Market at the Grange, and see all that local shopping has to offer. Every Thanksgiving meal begins with just the right turkey, and Crestholm Farm of Oxford has you covered with their fresh, locally raised turkeys! Stop in soon and see Crestholm Farm to place your order, and to pick up your fresh eggs for baking. Turkey not on your menu? Crestholm Farm has plenty of beef, chicken and pork for your family to enjoy as alternatives. Thunder Hill Farm of Waterford has lots of beef choices as well.

You will find potatoes, numerous squash varieties, turnips, carrots and pumpkins for your pies while shopping with Pearl’s Fresh Produce of Mechanic Falls, Mount Apatite Farm of Auburn, and Kangas Farm of Bryant Pond. Kangas Farm also has a wide range of fresh apples for your Thanksgiving pies, and offers incredible pickles and other canned goods to round out your meal.

Appetizer choices are numerous, with meatballs from Thunder Hill Farm, and jams and sauces from Bandana Bill’s of Stoneham. We have local honey and maple syrup along with culinary herbs from Streaked Mountain Herbs of Turner. Dessert choices are many, and all are delicious. Thanksgiving pies can be pre-ordered from Beep’s Bakery of Sumner, Lollie Papa Farm of West Paris and of course Hungry Hollow Country Store of West Paris. These terrific bakers along with Bread & More Bakery of Mechanic Falls have wonderful fresh breads perfect for your family meal and for all those turkey leftovers too. Our talented bakers will have holiday cakes, pumpkin rolls, and other such delights for you to enjoy as you visit with family and friends through the long holiday weekend.

When your holiday meal is over and the shopping begins remember your local farmers and artisans for great hot sauce gift sets brought to you by Bandana Bill’s, beautiful handcrafted cutting boards by Tree Works, a division of the Progress Center of Norway, and the soft, vibrant wool and fiber products of A Wrinkle in Thyme Farm of Sumner. You will also find skin-soothing goat’s milk soap by The Kidds Hillbilly Farm of Sumner, and delightful candy treats by Terry’s Country Candies. Decorate your home with dried flowers from Mount Apatite and handmade holiday wreaths brought to you by Meadow Ridge Perennial Farm of Hebron. These items also make great hostess gifts for all the holiday parties and gatherings. Don’t forget to pick up your wreath for your office door.

Local foods and local gifts are brought to you every week by your neighbors, your local farmers, bakers and artisans. Join us, all are welcome!
