HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society recently heard Charles Tobie describe his research and writing of the town's oldest roads. He told about the first road of consequence in town, a county road from New Gloucester to Paris established as a public way by the Court of General Sessions for Cumberland County in 1793. His research found a section from Minot Corner into Hebron identical to roads in use today. The most efficient way to reach the interior was to travel from Yarmouth up the Royal River to New Gloucester. He detailed map locations of families who lived along the way during the first years of this new route through Hebron. Tobie has put his research, findings and maps into a pamphlet entitled "A Way Through The Wilderness" which is available through the Society.
