Anderson Staples to host holiday tree lighting

OXFORD — Anderson Staples 112 Legion and Auxiliary of Oxford will be offering to any individual the chance to honor family members, friends, veterans or special individuals (deceased or living) at a tree lighting to be held at the Post Home on King Street in Oxford.

The tree lighting will be held on Friday, December 3, at 6:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to attend as Santa and Mrs. Claus will help light the tree. Everyone will then be asked to join the Legionnaires and Auxiliary members in the Post hall to participate in a short ceremony. A member of the Post and a member of the Auxiliary will then proceed to read names of those individuals who have been honored with a light on the tree. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be giving children who attend a small gift from the Legionnaires and Auxiliary members. Refreshments will also be served.

Anyone interested in purchasing a light for $5 should contact Linda Jack at 743-2340. Information and checks can be mailed to Anderson Staples 112, P.O. Box 712, Oxford, ME 04270. Checks should be made payable to Anderson Staples Unit 112.

This has been an important event in Oxford over the years and Anderson Staples hopes to continue with the tradition. Once the tree has been lit, it will remain bright during the holiday season. Thank you for your support.
