Christ Church celebrates Christmas

NORWAY – There are many ways to celebrate Christmas this year at Christ Episcopal Church, Norway.

On Friday, December 24, at 4 p.m., the church opens for the singing of carols and the traditional Christmas readings, including the familiar Christmas story in St. Luke’s nativity gospel. Children will present a Pageant as they fill the Creche with the Holy Family and with animals of all sorts. Steve Jones will sing “Some Children See Him”. The service will end with Holy Communion and, with the congregation kneeling, the singing of Silent Night.

The church opens again at 9:30 p.m. for more traditional carol singing, followed at 10 p.m. by the second service, with Choir and anthems, more carols, a Christmas homily and Holy Communion. This service will be followed by warm cider for the trip home.

On Saturday, December 25, at 9 a.m., Holy Communion will be celebrated again, to welcome the coming of the incarnate God.

On Sunday, December 26, a service of Holy Communion will be held at 8 a.m. The old English traditional and beautiful Service of Lessons and Carols will be presented at the 10 a.m. service.

Christ Church is located at 35 Paris Street, Norway. For more information, please phone 743-6782.
