A Blue Christmas service
OTISFIELD - The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will be holding a special service this year for people who are finding it difficult to experience the joy and hope of the holiday season. For many, this season is filled with difficult times, humps to get over, gatherings to endure, a variety of pressures and a flood of memories and feelings that dampens the days and seeks to steal away the light within the soul. The darkness might come from the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, a painful relationship, a life in transition, a serious health issue or any number of struggles that can cause us to feel the blues rather than the joy of the Advent season.
While it may not seem so, God is in the midst of the hard times as well as the good times, but for some it is a struggle to find Him when the darkness seems to be winning the battle in the heart. Those seeking support, understanding and encouragement are invited by Pastor Genise Knowlton to a “Blue Christmas” service on Sunday, December 19 at 2 p.m. at the church, located at 231 Rayville Road in East Otisfield. All are welcome who wish to express their sadness, seek solace, and find comfort in the company of others who are walking a similar path. For more information, call 539-2241.
