East Sumner Congregational invites community

SUMNER-The Congregational Church of East Sumner invites the community to the following holiday events.

On November 24, there will be a Thanksgiving Eve gathering at 6 p.m. for a light supper, followed by an informal service of thanks with hymns, prayers and Scripture at 7 p.m. led by the congregation.

Each Sunday morning starting on November 27, they will have the lighting of Advent candles during worship. Advent study will be held in the Vestry at 6:30 p.m. Sunday morning worship begins at 9 a.m.

On December 4, the First Saturday Supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. The meal will be a lasagna dinner, with vegetarian dishes and take-out boxes available.

December 8, the second Wednesday, is Senior Lunch and Bingo. Admission is a can of fruit or vegetables. The Knitting Group meets at 4 p.m.

On December 11, the Second Saturday Community Movie will start at 6:30 p.m. Free movie, refreshments for sale.

The December 24 Christmas Eve Service will start with an outdoor Living Nativity at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the vestry. At 7 p.m., a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols will be held in the Sanctuary. Donations at the Living Nativity will benefit the Deacons' Community Outreach Fund; the Candlelight Service will benefit retired ministers who have no pension plans.
