New pastor at Trinity Lutheran
PARIS — Trinity Lutheran Church of South Paris announces the arrival of its new pastor, The Reverend Raymond Mitchell. He will be leading Bible study at 9 a.m. and worship at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings as well as offering pastoral care and leadership weekdays. He may be reached at 743-6906.
Mitchell served two parishes and one term as a hospital chaplain during his 38 years in New Jersey. Since retiring he served as transitional pastor in Berlin, NH, and now in South Paris.
Mitchell graduated from Gettysburg College and Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA. He received four quarters of Clinical Pastoral Education at Elgin, IL, and counseling training at Princeton, NJ. Community involvements have been on the boards of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey and Camp Coining in Highland Park, NY.
While in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, he served as Chaplain of the local fire department and board member of the Community Counseling Service. Mitchell has a son Ted, who is married with two sons and teaches social studies in Coventry, RI. Daughter Whitney, a designer, is married and currently raising a girl and boy in Westerly, RI.
In 1965, Mitchell participated in the civil rights march in Montgomery, AL. In the summer of 2002, he traveled to China with the Amity Foundation and taught conversational French to Chinese English teachers. Hobbies are hiking, cross-country skiing, reading and gardening.
