New owner at Curves
CURVES – Lorraine Clukey is the new owner of Curves in South Paris. Her weight lose inspired her to buy the business.
PARIS – When Lorraine Clukey joined Curves a little over a year ago, she never dreamed of owning the business herself.
But 10 dress sizes and 10-plus months later, she is the proud to be thinner and the proprietor of Curves.
“Everything got a makeover including myself!” she explained. “When I took over the business, I got all new equipment and bright paint to make the place look fun and inviting.”
Clukey explained that Curves provides a complete cardio and strength-training workout in just 30 minutes.
“It’s a system that can burn up to 500 calories and work every major muscle group,” she explained. “You get an efficient and effective workout with every visit, designed especially for each client’s needs.”
And it’s not just about working out.
“We are a family here at Curves,” she smiled. “It’s not just a place to lose weight, but a social place as well. The equipment is set up so that clients can chat and encourage each other and there is always chatter and laughter going on. Curves brings us stronger; together.”
“There is also a Silver Sneaker group,” she added.
Clukey said that Curves also gives back to the community.
“My Curves family has been great at raising money for other causes. The women here have been getting together and giving back to the community, like sending a whole shopping cart of supplies to a school drive and giving to Toys for Kids and even helping with St Jude’s Children’s Hospital to mention a few.”
Cleanliness is also key to a shared work-out area.
“Machines are cleaned with a hospital disinfectant every 30 minutes, and there is hand sanitizer available for all the clients….and Scentsy burners make everyone’s workout more relaxing.”
According to Clukey, results can be astounding.
“I went from a size 22 to a size 12 in about a year,” she smiled. “And many others are getting closer to their goal each week. But it is not just about losing weight. We have one member who suffered a head injury and Curves has helped her to get back to driving again and be more independent; it has been a welcomed asset for her.”
Clukey loves to see the weight loss and strength gain that her clients receive from exercising together.
“I’m extremely proud of how hard the woman work out…their curves make my Curves look amazing!”
