The Chamber Beat
One way to network is to attend a Business After Hours. You don’t have to be a Chamber Member, although it helps, so plan to attend our next event on Thursday, June 7, at the Oxford Federal Credit Union from 5:30 - 7 p.m., at 54 Fair Street in Norway.
It’s always a great opportunity to meet and greet fellow business people from around the greater Oxford Hills area. We’ll have door prizes, tours of the facility , and you can hear from other Chamber Members and what their up to as well. Susan Graves and her staff always put on a great event-don’t miss it.
On June 21, the Chamber and SCORE will welcome Greg White to a Roundtable discussion of affordable health care. Greg represents “Consumers for Affordable Health Care”, a non-profit organization that educates individuals and groups on health care coverage options and programs that can help many people obtain care.
Greg will talk about resources available for small employers shopping for health insurance including Dirigo Choice, Voucher programs, pre-existing condition Insurance plans, and changes occurring at the state and federal levels that will affect small businesses.
And you’ll have a chance as a business owner to ask questions about these alternative Health Insurance programs. These are important so take advantage of this resource, offered at no charge-we’ll supply the coffee. You can register through the Chamber or at SCORE.
Well, wouldn’t you know it, the airline industry strikes again. Rich Brooks from Flyte New Media, got hung up in Miami and was not able to make a connecting flight back in time to host his third Social Media Seminar and so it’s been rescheduled to Friday, June 1, at the Norway Town Office from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
I do know that we have virtually sold this out with more than 60, that’s right, 60 businesses signed up but we may have a few more seats, so if you have an interest in attending go to www.oxfordhills.score.org or call SCORE or call our office and we’ll see if there is any room left.
The towns of Norway and Paris are looking to consolidate their Police Departments and to provide total access to the public as to how this will be done, we’re going to be filming a show that will bring the principals for this effort together so everyone understands what the objectives will be in making this important change.
I will be hosting this and NPC TV will be filming it so you can see it over and over again. As soon as I know when it will be aired I’ll let everyone know.
And Mainebiz is hosting a meet and mingle with other businesses on Thursday, June 14, at Poland Spring Resort, one of our members, from 5-7 p.m. It’s free but they do ask you to register and you can do so by going to www.mainebiz.biz/oxford Another opportunity to network and get some visibility fro your business.
Finally, don’t forget that we’re all about you doing business locally with our Chamber business members. My picks for this week include Paris Hill and Norway Country Clubs, McDonalds in South Paris, White’s Marina in Norway, Western Hills Property Group in Norway, and Wal-Mart in Oxford
As always, the Chamber is on top of business throughout the Oxford Hills-are you a Chamber Member yet? It’s easy, just call us at the office and speak with Jennifer or myself and we’ll sign you up. I'll see you next week.
