Passing the drill
DOCTOR TO DOCTOR – Marjorie Howe, DMD passes over the dentist drill to Deanna Davis DMD. Davis recently took over Howe’s dental practice and is accepting new patients.
NORWAY — Marjorie Howe, DMD has recently sold her dental practice to Deanna Davis, DMD.
Howe has decided to retire after 25 years of service to the community.
“My husband has pretty much retired, as have most of our friends,” she smiled. “I wanted us to have some time to be a snowbird.”
Howe put the practice on the market a few years ago while undergoing chemo treatment.
“I am healthy now, so I wasn’t sure I wanted to sell,” she said. “But once I met Dr. Davis, I knew it was the right thing to do.”
According to Howe, someone like Davis doesn’t come around very often.
“I felt that it was time to make the decision,” she explained. “Deanna is an accomplished dentist, very caring and nice to her patients. She wanted to keep all of my employees, which was also a big consideration.”
“She also has the energy to implement all the new dental services,” she added. “I thought my patients deserved that.”
The new dental practice will be called The Art of Family Dentistry and will remain at its current location on 27 Green Street, Norway.
The office seemed like a perfect fit to Davis, who has advanced training in cosmetics and occlusion, trained through the Dawson Academy in Florida.
“I wanted to find a small office with warm, caring and friendly patients to call family,” the new dentist explained. “When I walked into Dr. Howe’s practice an immediate sense of warmth surrounded me and I knew that it was the right practice for me.”
Davis plans to carry on the already-established legacy.
“I have the same great, amazing team,” said the new dentist. “The only immediate difference is a new face: mine. They have been amazing with the transition and helping me to meet the people of the community.”
Davis also brings new services to the practice.
“I do most extractions, root canals, implants and pediatrics. I have 15 years experience of which 8 ... are in the pediatric field. I like to start the kids off as early as six months.”
“I believe in listening to the patient at all times,” she added. “I am a huge people person and my patients will enjoy my bubbly and lively personality.”
After two weeks at her new office, Davis says it has been nothing short of amazing.
“I have an absolutely wonderful team and the patients I have seen have welcomed me with open arms,” she grinned. “A smile and laughter is guaranteed when you leave the office. I look forward to meeting more of the established patients and, of course, all of the new patients who are joining the practice.”
“Thank you to my new family in Norway.”
Davis lives with her family in Yarmouth. She has two, active sons: Timothy, 12 and Andrew, 11.
