Local craftsman launches campaign

PARIS — Dead Apple Farm Furniture, creator of colorful pieces from reclaimed wood, has launched a Kickstarter.com project running until June 7.

Kickstarter.com is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects in a variety of fields. In exchange for pledges, each creator offers rewards to their "Backers," but these projects must reach their funding goals by their deadlines or else no money changes hands.

Jay Lester, the woodworker behind Dead Apple Farm Furniture, is both the designer and builder of his creative furniture which he crafts in his workshop in Paris. He brings his artistic designs to life with traditional joinery and mostly reclaimed wood, and carefully finishes each piece with all-natural oils and milk paint.

If the campaign is successfully funded, the money will be used to present Dead Apple Farm Furniture pieces at shows across the state and have them in small shops in the Oxford Hills. It will also go toward obtaining additional reclaimed materials.

Pledges can be made at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1121034977/dead-apple-farm-furniture. Visit http://www.facebook.com/DeadAppleFarmFurniture.
