OXFORD — A key figure in the Oxford casino project has been promoted, but sources say the promotion will not affect the project.

Robert Berry, project leader for site development of the Oxford casino, has been promoted to president of Main-Land Consulting.

The previous president, Darryl Brown, was recently sworn in as commissioner for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

Black Bear Entertainment (BBE) representatives said that the personnel change was unlikely to affect Berry's hands-on work at the casino development site.

"I really doubt it," said Mark Robinson, spokesman for BBE.

Berry, who lives in Embden, has worked as an engineer and project manager at the firm since 2004.

"We want to assure our many valuable clients that we will continue to provide the ...  land planning consulting services our firm has built its reputation upon for nearly four decades,” said Berry.

Berry has provided provisional leadership of the firm since early January when Brown's nomination was announced.
