Local outfitter wins casino bid

NORWAY — Golden Mountain Outfitters, a small apparel retailer based in Norway, has won the bid to provide the Oxford Casino with its employee wardrobe.

Shelly Everett, the owner of Golden Mountain says that the casino contract is by far the largest she has even been awarded.

"We are very happy that they [the casino] kept their business local, and very excited to be a part of it," Everett says.

Under the contract, Golden Mountain will provide uniforms and apparel for more than 300 Oxford Casino employees.

The uniforms will be embroidered by Golden Mountain and casino employees will be able to have their work wardrobes adjusted and altered at the company's Norway retail store.

Everett says that the longevity of the two-year contract will really give her business a boost, and she's happy that the casino kept its business local.

"They were willing to commit," says Everett. "In my personal conversations with management they intend to stay loyal, as long as we can service them and provide them with a product they want."

She says that she is confident that the contract will go beyond two years.

Scott Smith, public relations manager for the Oxford Casino, said that he was very excited that the bid had gone to a local vendor.

"For me, advocating for local vendors has been a big part of what I've done," he said, "so I'm just really happy about it."

He said he was very pleased that the casino was able to demonstrate its continued interest in working with local companies.

Golden Mountain opened in 2011 and has three employees.

It specializes in providing service attire, and its largest customers up to this point have been local nursing homes, veterinary offices and the Oxford County Sheriff's Department.

Everett hopes that with the casino contract Golden Mountain can expand and hire more employees.

"That's our objective — to grow, and we hope the casino can help us do that," Everett says.
