Open Mic Night celebrates nine years
NORWAY — The Norway Open Mic Night will celebrate its ninth anniversary on Friday, January 28 at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St. in Norway. Sign-up for performers begins at 6:30 p.m., and the open mic begins around 7 p.m. Admission is $3 and refreshments are available.
The Norway Open Mic Night has been a destination for nine years for performers of all ages and abilities where all are encouraged and invited to share their talents. The stage has been graced by all styles of entertainment from music to comedy to story-telling to dance and everything inbetween — in a fun, supportive, and relaxed atmosphere. There are vending opportunities for those artists with CDs or writing for sale.
A fixture in Western Maine culture, the Norway Open MicNight is a wonderful venue for first-timers, or even for veteran performers looking for a forum to try out new material. A refreshing alternative to the "bar scene," it is also a great evening for the whole family at this beautiful and historic downtown Norway church.
The Norway Open Mic Night, which is always held on the last Friday evening of each month, was founded in January 2002 by Vessel Recordings artist and host Heather Pierson. Everyone is welcome and participation is not required.
