La Fanciulla del West to be broadcast at center

FRYEBURG — "La Fanciulla del West," by Puccini, will be broadcast live at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1 p.m. Puccini’s wild-west opera had its world premiere in 1910 at the Met. Now, on the occasion of its centennial, all-American diva Deborah Voigt sings the title role of the “girl of the golden west,” starring opposite Marcello Giordani. Nicola Luisotti conducts.

Tickets are $26 for adults, $23 for seniors and $18 for students and may be ordered through the Box Office by calling 935-9232 or on-line at www.fryeburgacademy.org. The Performing Arts Center is located at 18 Bradley St. in Fryeburg.

Approximate running time is three hours, 30 minutes. Casting is subject to change without notice.
