Take a trip back in time at Norlands this summer

LIVERMORE -- Throughout July and August, the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center will be open every Tuesday and Thursday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for “Living History Tours”. Visitors to the site are engaged by people who portray a local person, someone they might have met had they visited in 1870.
It could be someone cooking in the farmer’s cottage, if it's not too hot, or a Washburn granddaughter, Ada Washburn or Anna Maud Washburn, in the 1867 Washburn Mansion, or the school ma’am in the one-room schoolhouse who will encourage visitors to practice their mental arithmetic and penmanship using a quill pen under her watchful eye.
It's a fun way to learn about history and what rural Maine life was like soon after the Civil War. Visitors are encouraged to bring their imagination and ask all the questions they want. They can bring a picnic lunch and Norlands will provide the lawn, the picnic table and the beautiful setting.
The cost is $10 adult/$6 age 12 and under. No appointments are needed.
For more information please visit the Norlands website, www.norlands.org or call 207-897-4366.
