Local gal needs help to get TV show aired
Allyssa Maurice, formerly of South Paris and an OHCHS graduate, has co-written a TV sitcom and is getting ready to pitch it to netwok television. She is hoping to strengthen her pitch with a minimum of 5,000 "likes" from facebook.
Maurice, who now lives in North Hollywood, CA, is reaching out to the Oxford Hills to visit the Facebook page —http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Help-Allyssa-Robbie-get-their-sitcom-on-TV/172779842739068 — and click the "Like" button.
In addition to providing quality entertainment, it is the goal of the sitcom to give back to a greater cause. The decline of arts education in schools is a rapidly growing problem. Maurice and her co-writer Robbie Cox want to help ensure that the younger generations have the same opportunity they did to enjoy music, theater and art programs as a valuable part of their learning.
Through the sitcom, the pair plans to start a charity to support arts in the schools, and have already booked their first "give back gig" at a non-profit arts program in Jacksonville, FL where they will bring a taste of Hollywood to underprivileged teens in an effort to expand the teens' artistic horizons.
