NORWAY COUNTRY CLUB LADIES ASSOCIATION MEETING 9 a.m. in the clubhouse. New members are welcome of all ages and skill level. If you are a member of the Norway Country Club, there is an initial fee of $20, then $2 every week after. If you are not a member you pay the initial fee of $20, then $2 every week after plus greens fees. You can buy a booklet of 10 9-hole plays at the Pro Shop for $135.

BETHEL HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S LECTURE SERIES "BENEDICT ARNOLD'S MARCH THROUGH MAINE TO QUEBEC" 7:30 p.m. at the Regional History Center in the Dr. Moses Mason house. Lecture will be presented by Thomas A. Desjardin, Historic Site specialist for the State of Maine.
     
LAKES ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATION PROGRAMS 10 a.m. vernal pool walk on the Narrow Gauge Railroad. Focus of the walk will be vernal pool ecology and egg mass identification. Meet at the LEA Center, 230 Main St., Bridgton, to carpool to the trailhead. Rubber boots or old sneakers recommended. Hike will last about 2 hours. Sunset canoe trip in the Brownfield Bog and meet at the LEA at 3:30 p.m. or the Brownfield Bog parking area at 4 p.m. for the canoe trip that will focus on bog ecology and ways to increase awareness towards the natural environment. Novice and experienced paddlers welcome. Group is limited to 6-12 participants. Cost is $30 for LEA members and $40 for nonmembers which includes paddling and safety lessons, healthy snacks, guided excursion, canoe, paddle, lifejacket and programming. BETHEL HISTORICAL SOCIETY SEEKING DONATIONS FOR ST. NEVER'S DAY SALE ON MAY 24. Donations can be left on the back porch of the O'Neil Robinson House on 10 Broad St. or on the side porch of Stan Howe's house on 19 Broad St. Usable items in good condition are needed but no clothing or computer equipment. Pickup can be arranged by call the Society at 824-2908. You may also rent a space, 3x6 feet for $20 to hold your own sale.

BUCKFIELD HIGH SCHOOL FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE Proceeds will benefit the Class of 2008 Project Graduation. 6-8 p.m. in the auditorium at BHS. Family viewing is from 5:30-6 p.m. Price is $15 per family for advanced tickets and $17 at the door. Attire for the evening is semi-formal and music is suitable for all age groups. HARTFORD HERITAGE SOCIETY PLANT SALE Proceeds will support the Hartford Heritage Society and renovation of the museum. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at J & O Irish Museum, Main St., Hartford Center. Sale will include plants from expert gardeners throughout the area as well as donations from local nurseries. There will also be old-fashioned beverages and homemade baked goods.

Following the dinner, new candidates running in the June 10 Republican primary will be outlining issues for 2008. WHEN BRIDGTON WAS A MILL TOWN HISTORY PROGRAM 7 p.m. at the Harrison Village Library. Sue Black, librarian at No. Bridgton Library, will present a series of slides on the history of the mills on Stevens Brook in Bridgton. This program includes photos of old mills which once figured prominently in the life of our neighboring community, but are all but gone now. This is a great time to learn more about the mills and plan a walking tour with your visitors this summer along Stevens Brook Trail and Pondicherry Trail. Everyone is invited. ODDFELLOW THEATER CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY On Friday, there will be a first performance reunion show and on Saturday, there will be the 10th anniversary Early Evening Show. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m. at the theater, Buckfield. Lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for all seats and may be purchased by calling the Oddfellow Theater box office at 336-3306. On Friday, the cast of the very first show will reassemble for a night of world-class juggling, incredible magic and sidesplitting comedy. On Saturday, the Early Evening Show with Mike Miclon is a tongue-and-cheek spoof of the classic late night talk show.

Following the supper will be a video presentation "A Walk Across England" by Dan and Rosemarie Johnson of Waterford and Boston, who walked with another couple across England from St. Bees on the North Sea to Robinhood Bay on the Irish Sea. Everyone is welcome. Bring a main dish, salad or dessert and bread and beverages will be provided. You may bring your favorite English dish to add interest.

TURKEY SUPPER Sponsored by the Western Maine Harness Horsemen's Assn. 5-6:30 p.m. at the 1st Congregational Church, E. Main St., So. Paris. Cost will be $7 for adults and $4 for under 12.
